Kate Nash - Foundations
The gates opened on the 26th June at Glastonbury for this years festival but I was in a sweat box in Kingston upon Thames. This was my first visit to The Fighting Cocks and despite the air conditioning it got rather sticky while we waited for Kate Nash to make her appearance. Kate was on a record store tour to promote her fifth album '9 Sad Symphonies' which was released by Kill Rock Stars! on the 21st of this month. However this song, which was written by Kate, is on her debut album 'Made of Bricks' which reached number one in the UK album charts in 2007. It's so strange to see the 2 generations of fans now, I used to follow this artist with their former work, I've only just discovered that they are going by the name "Grand Pax" now, like 10 years on I finally discover what happened to an artist whose music I really loved. It's great to see them still making music. The artist just kind of disappeared one day for me. I obviously won't mention their old work publicly as they seem to be distancing themselves from it for some reason, there's no mention of it in publications/ interviews etc or social media. I do believe that the keyboard player is jess.thepianist though, she used to play live with Annie in their old project.
